National Careers Service

National Careers Service provide careers information, advice and guidance. They can help you to make decisions on learning, training and work at all stages in your career.

Get personalised careers advice and information on all aspects of your career including:

  • Making career choices
  • Getting a job (including help with CVs and job applications)
  • Progressing your career

Help with interview clothes

Working Wardrobe

If you are a Bolton at Home Resident, Working Wardrobe can help interviewees make the best possible first impression so they're successful in getting that job by offering:

  • ​suitable interview attire,
  • sector-specific mock interviews and feedback (available in person or remotely),
  • one to one interview preparation (available in person or remotely),
  • and other tailored employment support

Smart Works 

Smart Works support all women, including transgender women, and non-binary people who feel their gender expression connects with the Smart Works service and wardrobe.

They support women regardless of their unemployment circumstances. Whether a woman is recently unemployed, returning to work after a long employment gap or looking for her first ever job, the Smart Works team are there to help her on her journey.

Need support with the digital side of job searching?

The Digital, Employment and Skills team run a friendly informal Digital Skills Job Club each week:

  • Access basic digital skills guidance to get you started on your job-searching journey
  • Learn how to search and apply for jobs online
  • Find information on training and learning opportunities
  • Get signposted to local employment support services
