Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

  • Images on some pages do not always have suitable image descriptions, for example the 'Intuit mailchimp' logo image on our Newsletter Signup page - This is automatically generated by Mailchimp and we have no control or access to provide Alt text. Users of assistive technologies may not have access to information conveyed in images. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).
  • The 'Intuit mailchimp' logo image on our Newsletter Signup page also fails WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) and WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value: Links must have discernible text - This is automatically generated by Mailchimp and we have no control or access to provide a Title tag.
  • The Newsletter Signup page has disabled zooming for mobile devices and therefore fails WCAG 1.4.4 Resize Text: Zooming and scaling must not be disabled - This code is generated by Mailchimp and we have no control or access to change it.
  • The <html> element is missing a lang attribute on our Newsletter Signup page, this fails WCAG 3.1.1 Language of Page: <html> element must have a lang attribute  - This code is generated by Mailchimp and we have no control or access to change it.
  • Some documents are in less accessible formats, for example PDF. Non-HTML documents published on or after 23 September 2018 must have an accessible format.

PDFs and non-HTML documents

Some documents are not accessible in a number of ways including missing text alternatives and missing document structure, we have a programme in place to fix these or convert them into readable pages (where possible) before September 2024

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We're using monitoring software provided by Monsido and working to fix errors and warnings on a daily basis. We report to our Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion group on a monthly basis to show progression.
